Planninga week or so in the French Alps in early July, two motorhomes each towing a large motorcycle trailer.

Anyone used the site a St Jorioz, called Camping International Du Lac D'Annecy?

Any suggestions for a comfortable base in this area?

I stayed in another one nearby called camping Europa. The cycle track is at the back of the site and is accessible from the site. Short walk to the centre of St. Joiroz, and to the lakeside beaches, both by the cycle track. Good facilities for the kids with waterslides etc. Annecy not too far away.

Hi,

in Annecy is a good camping place on the hill in direction " Hopital ".

There are also 2 " aires pour campingcar ", one on the west side and the second on the north side of the Lac, in Annecy...But often " Complet "...

for info,

duc

I can recommend Camping Simon de Verthier near Doussard at the southern end of the lake. 10 euro per night when I was there in 2003.

Hi Paul and everyone. It's quite a while since I've been on! New grandchild, new house for daughter, etc. etc.
We travelled through the Alps from France to Italy last summer. Followed Grizzly's recommendation and went via Barcelonnette and Cuneo. Was great, thanks Grizzly. Coming back we used Mont Blanc tunnell, intending to stay a couple of days in Chamonix, but weren't impressed with the aire. We had a few Camping Cheques left (€14 per night), so used Les dome de Miages, at St. Gervais les bains. Excellent site, adjacent to town, stunning views, quiet and peaceful. It had bus stop outside the gate. The narrow railway to mountain peak goes from St. Gervais. Would thoroughly recommend both campsite and area. I think we drove about 20minutes from Chamonix, if memory serves me correctly. We're doing a variation on the same theme this June, including a night at the openair Opera in Verona, which was magical! I'm so excited already.
