Hi

We are off to France beginning of Feb (La Clusaz). It is our first trip skiing in `the van`. Can anyone give me some advice re snowchains. Is any one else going to be in La Clusaz in first week of Feb, staying at Plan du Feurney.

Den

Hi Den,

Snowchains are not compulsory in France but...
Having said that, you will see many of the higher altitude roads and passes, particularly around the ski resorts displaying this road sign......

It means that you cannot use this road in winter without carrying snowchains with you and be prepared to fit chains before using the road in adverse conditions.

Have a look through this link for more info on purchasing ...

Hello bagpuss,
we are going to Austria the 07.01.2006 and I bought snow chains via ebay already last year about 80 €..
We have been in Austria for many times, this year the first time with MH in snow.
I am am familiar driving with snow chains with passenger car, but this journey will be the first time with my Poessel.
i read the instructions andt think it is quite easy to bring the chains on the weels.
Good luck, enjoy the winter in MH,
Klaus.

Hi, we are off to norway next week, I got a set of chains for the transit based camper off e-bay for under 30 pounds, If I was you I would take a set, also a small bag of sand and a small spade, better safe then sorry, you may never need them, a bit like a 1st aid kit, but when you do you DO. have a good trip, terry
