Hi all, has anyone got any experience of the type of motorcycle scooter carrier that bolts to the towbar and lifts the front wheel, leaving the rear wheel to trail, e.g. Ebay item # 300581718792 it is a fairly low cost solution, which adds little weight to the rear of your motorhome, but has anyone used one?. would it be classed as a trailer by the ferries/tunnel, and can anyone see a downside to this type of device?

Any help appreciated.

I would want proof that it not classed as a towing dolly, which are for emergency recovery only,
Also I would worry about the effects on towing an auto scooter, Not sure what effect it would have on the belt drive system

It looks like a brilliant idea ecept for the fact that reversing could be difficult and of course the problem previously mentioned.

If one used such a device would a lighting board be necessary and if so would it not be difficult to attached to the back of the bike? Very Happy

[B] He says in his listing that they are as legal as the "A frame" or dolly type systems, which I beleive are for recovery only.......Has anyone ever been stopped/cautioned/whatever when towing with an A frame, and is it actualy legal to tour with one of these devices, and what is the view of the law in other countries, (especialy Europe). As for the lights, although you could clearly see the vehicles lights, the bike would be much further back than the vehicle, and at night, would risk collision with vehicles behind. Thanks.
