We are thinking of having a trip to Croatia sometime in the next year or so and I have read or heard somewhere that an International Driving License is required. Does anyone know if this is so. One source said it was only needed if you intended to hire a car whilst there. This could actually become a reality if the motorhome suffered some breakdown or other mishap.

Your UK Licence should be fine, the FCO website actually states that an International Licence is not valid in Croatia:

http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living-abroad/travel-advice-by-country/europe/croatia

As Croatia's ambition is to join the EU I suspect that your UK (European) driving licence is more than sufficient.

We loved Croatia, driving is a little mad (on par with Eastern Europe) - just pull well over onto the 'shoulder' to allow people to pass if they wish.

There have been problems in Croatia where the authorities have not recognised/excepted a UK driving license. Shocked Shocked

See HERE you need a IDP to hire a car but to be on the safe side get an IDP as well just in case you have a problem. Very Happy Very Happy

We always carry an IDP in which ever country we visit and they are always well received. Very Happy Very Happy

Safe travelling.

and don't forget to drive with your lights on, headlights not sides. This is a requirement in Croatia. If you are caught without them on its an on the spot fine.
