Hi Folks

I want to remove some sicoflex silicone from the roof of my Hymer to re-root some cables for my satellite dish etc.. It's proving quite slow - has anyone any top tips please ?

Thanks Captain Bligh

Tip 1). Do a search Captain. There was a long discussion about this some time ago.

Tip 2). If the sikaflex is under something fixing it in place, a length of piano wire might cut through it fairly easily.

Good luck. It's persistent stuff isn't it!! Rolling Eyes

I've used a stanley knife blade to cut away large profiles, and then white spirit - a long job!

I found this on Piston heads, "I've siad it before, but it's quite easy to get sikaflex off if you've got the right solvent, use "panel degreaser" available from bodyshop supliers (you can get the sikaflex from there too)".

I would test a little out of the way area first just to be sure, Alan.

Idea hi captainbligh . i changed my solar panel to a big one and the aluminum brackets had to come off so i used one of those sonic cutters that just vibrate and it went through like butter with no damage then lightly sand and finish off with spray paint job done . jud

Hi, Shane from Snellyvision told me the way to remove brackets fixed with siklafex is to use a sharpened paper scraper to gradually cut through , then when when the brackets are off ,clean up with white spirit
