Hello

I am looking at scanning all our photos for long term storage on line or on discs.

I know it will be a long boring process, but it needs to be done. I have been looking at the Epson Perfection V600 Photo or the Canon 9000.

I am not to technical minded, although I will have a go at most things
just want it to be easily used with reasonable results.

Can anyone give me any advice on these or recomend any other models.

Many thanks

Pat

Thanks EJB

Already done the research via the web, but wanted to know if anyone had any use of these or others and what they felt about it.

Hi Pat, I am a photographer for fun but also qualification. For fun I use an all in one Epson and find it great, but, just be aware that high quality scans of photographs can end up as enormous digital files.

We recently had 100 8mm-35mm tranny's scanned. By Jacobs [the photography mob] would recommend you call them for a quote, and sample??

There were scanned on a canon scanner.
I was very impressed with the quality, the cost was around £20 for the lot. Couldn't of bought a scanner for that.

The files were massive as well.

I use HP scanners and printers simply because at the time of purchase each one was the best buy.
It's pure coincidence that they all turned out to be HP Rolling Eyes

Wilse's suggestion is very sound and worth looking in to Wink

I have 40 years worth of photos, will only scan the best ones, but it still a lot.

Its not to bad with the newer digital ones, we also have a flikr account.

Its just that we are going to travel the world for several years, maybe have no house, so photos going into storage, might not be that dry and would hate for them to get damaged.

The scanners I was looking at areabout £200, but would sell good secondhand too.
