Can anyone tell me whether a small solar panel will keep my car battery topped up whilst I'm away for a few weeks touring. Should I disconnect the negative terminal. I can't leave it hooked up to the mains. The battery is new & the car will be on my drive. Thanks for any advice.

We left our car for 10 weeks earlier this year, without any battery charging. Although it chugged a bit when we got back, it started fine, so yours should be okay for a few weeks. Our car (and battery) is 4 years old, and it has an alarm (which was powered up when we were away).
