hi,
We are a family of five, and we will be selling up everything, and getting a motorhome to busk around Europe. We are starting in England testing the water then heading on to Europe.

We are a family of balloon twisters and facepainters. Me and my partner and 3 children aged 11yrs, 6yrs and 1yr.

We are hoping to get a 5-6 berth motorhome. We havent bought one yet as we wanted a bit of advice. Is there anything we should particularly look for in buying a family motorhome any specs we should go for before buying, with a family in mind, and in tow

With traveling in a motorhome would it be possible for us to do venues and parties along the way.
We were wondering if there were any families on here with children who would be interested in booking us for a kids party, or something different out of the norm like a campsite club house etc ????

Any advice would be very much appreciated thanks

Heres just afew of the balloons we make, so who knows???
But how would we go about getting advance bookings??, Or does anyone have any ideas for us to consider??

We thought of having big signs on our MH, and also doing balloon deliveries for those special days people just want to say i love you, or a thanks to someone with a special balloon delivery

Hi and welcome to you all. What incredible balloon creations ! Amazing !

In a MH you'd be well placed for all the summer fetes and fairs that take place up and down the country though it is getting a bit end-of-season. Many of them advertise in local newspapers so, if you went online to look for them you could perhaps ring the organisers and ask if you can park there for the duration of the fair/fete.

One thing to watch carefully when you look at MHs is the payload; if you are all going to be living in it then you will need quite a substantial payload and many MHs just aren't up to it.

Welcome to MHF - the octopus and elephant are brill!

I know someone who made a fair bit of money sitting outside Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh facepainting Saltires on people's faces for the Scotland V England Rugby match!

Good luck. I guess it would be VERY difficult. Most businesses rely on marketing and to market a business that has a mobile location like you are intending would be a nightmare. You wouldn't be able to plan a route as you would be dictated to by bookings.

I wonder if you could look at some of the music festivals but god knows how much they would charge for a pitch. I wonder if you could tag along with a travelling fairground? You might be able to do UK with a tour of Summer fates (if they still do that sort of thing) at schools. That way you could have set dates and plan your route round that. My guess is that you need to plot events you can attend then work out the route. I would think you would do better at organised events, county shows, dog shows, country fairs etc that will advertise them selves and bring people to your stall!!!

Not trying to knock your idea and I do wish you all the best of luck and hope you have a great fun adventure.

Please keep us updated of your adventures.

How interesting.

My wife owns Butterfingers which supplies circus juggling equipment, modelling balloons etc. they also run kids parties. She is currently in our motorhome at the European Juggling Convention in Munich. You are welcome to email her with your madcap idea at annie@butterfingers.co.uk They tend to want stable available people to run circus workshops but you never know - perhaps October half term when they will be running a full week of workshops for kis which would include balloon modelling.

What you certainly can do is wend your way around the continent attending various festivals - you would pay for your pitch but you woulkd make money.

be careful that the 5/6 berth unit you choose can actually carry 5/6 persons securely belted up I think it's not unusual to only have 3/4 belts - crazy eh!!!

Plus you also need a van with a generous payload if you're going to carry 5 people plus all their stuff.

What type of motorhome have a high payload and 5 seatbelts or can you pay extra to have seatbelts put in - seems strange to do a 5/6 berth with only 3/4 belts doesnt it ??!!!
