We're looking for some sort of awning for our motorhome. We've looked at Safari Rooms but because they fit to the side of the existing canopy it will mean we can't open the bedroom window or under bed storage locker when it's fitted. So I wondered if I, (or a company), could fix a channel to the van along the trim edge and get a caravan awning to then fit it. We're not interested in drive away awnings as they don't appear to be strong enough for a long term fix.

Hi.
We have gone back c/vanning,our first choice was Issabella, but the price was out of sight,ok they last a life time and we had allways had them, but at 72?. On shopping around we found a Dorema,"Stand alone Porch awning, large",and got a super deal on this. It could,"Stand alone",so if you were to get a joining strip made up,so you could detach the awning, then slide the joining strip from your "J"channel on your m/h,hey presto, you have a robust stand alone awning. I will PM you the dealers location,as it could put the cat among the pigeons LOL. Hope this may help.
Gearjammer.

You can use a caravan porch awning without any problem as it will slide into the channel on your existing awning. We used a 2 bay one but as our awning was a Fiamma which has the smaller channel we had to sew a new ribbon on.

Have now used the same awning on the caravan that we now have.
