Hi Jilly.
You might need a 10ft. dish in southern Spain and even then reception might be hit and miss. OK MiniWinny's are big but not that big.
Have you driven the Winny yet? The 'C' clas RVs are usually rather over bodied and can be a struggle to keep in a straight line.
Ray.

hi, it all depends where in southern spain? all along the costa del sol you can have all your uk tv (bbc's, itv, chn 4) on a properly aligned and skewed oyster 80 cm dish. this is in good weather though and you need a 1 metre to hold all the channels in the rain. alicante region south to cartegena is tough, like ray said a very big dish needed here. all the best sean
I presume you're wanting to watch 'normal' UK channels? You can get other channels on a slightly different satellite beam, including (I think) Sky news, with a smaller, 'normal' dish.
How long do you intend to stay in Southern Spain? Would it be worth investing in a large, fixed dish that you can tether to the ground?
I live in Southern spain in the area which is the most difficult IE south of Benicassim to Adra on the Costa del Sol. I do have which I consider the best system the Kathrein Cap 900 and it will pull in every channel down to Benicassim and West of Adra. It will pull in almost all except BBC 1&2 in the difficult area I live in as a much larger dish is required for BBC. To get ITV 1 and Ch5 in this difficult area a Sky receiver is required with a freesat from Sky card (cost Ģ20) I access the Formula 1 on BBC by viewing the steams on BBC News and the red button. If you have Web access you can get it all anywhere as per one of my previous posts. So to sum up Get a good 80cm dish with Auto Skew Twin LNB and preferably GPS assisted but this is not absolutely essential as it only speeds things up whilst seeking sats. There are a number of very good systems like Kathrein, Oyster, Crystop etc so look at prices and report back on here what sort of deal you get offered then we can quide you to a good decision with no bias towards any particular system. Interestingly people seem to think skewing an LNB is only necessary when on the continent "Not So" my Kathrein is showing -21Deg and right now I am in Kidlington Oxfordshire. In Spain its usually approx -36Deg Now probably as Astra 2 is centred on the UK I would get all the channels without altering the Skew but with a smaller dish this could be the difference between reception or no reception.
I have just read the original post again and notice you live in San Miguel. Right now I am in the UK but will be back in Spain within two weeks if you like you are welcome to see my Kathrein working as I am only a few Km's from you at Quesada then I can show you how to get the channels and you can then look for a system that will do the job and you will be happy with.
Thanks for the info,I have a big dish for static viewing but want to travel around Spain for the winter.I am new to this and have'nt picked up the winnie yet.We were buying a Burstner but it fell through,so any info is great,Yes would love to see your sat system working I am in Quesada weekly so get in touch when you are back.
Asta 1N was launched a few days ago. This is initially to suplement satellites at 28 degrees east (Astra 2D). Hope it does not have too much impact on you guys in Spain when they finally decide what will be moved onto it. It is supposed to have some pretty tightly focused beams for coverage of northern Europe
