I've got a Steca PR1515 controller on my 120W panel.

We had the controller and panel swapped from our old van, but even after sitting in bright sunlight for many hours (not today Crying or Very sad ), the SOC (state of charge) is only 64%. This is after being on hookup and driving, and not taking much power out of them.

I've measured the leisure batteries, and they're both sitting at 14V something (I forget exactly what), so they're being charged.

So my question is: is it worth resetting the controller? There's not much information in the leaflet, apart from the sequence in which I disconnect and reconnect the panel and batteries. I'm assuming something went amiss when they were swapped, and it needs to do its sums again. Everything else seems to be working fine, although it's telling me I have over 300 AHr available from 2 X 110 AHr batteries Rolling Eyes

Anyone ever done this? Or is there a way of resetting it without disconnecting?

Gerald

Hi Gerald

I have had a Steca PR1010 controller which I fitted in conjunction with a 135W panel for about 12 months now and have always used the Steca in 'Voltage' rather than 'SOC' mode.

The Steca manual states on page 12:

'If loads are directly connected to the battery and not to the controller or the battery is also charged from a different source, then the Voltage control (with bar display) operating mode must be selected. Otherwise, the SOC calculation may be incorrect' .

Which I'm sure applies in the case of a motorhome. The various loads and the on-hookup charger are not able to be monitored by the Steca controller so it will not be able to correctly calculate the SOC.

Hope this helps.
