Hi
I would love to visit Southern Ireland in September/October and I wonder whether anyone can give me a few pointers on great places to stay, wild camping and ease of use with a larger van.
Thanks in anticipation.

No problem, there are thousands of wild camping places, far too many to mention. If you have specific places in mind I am sure we can help but really it's very easy to find places.

Any roads you should avoid will be marked as unsuitable for caravans/trucks/certain widths or lengths. In Ireland due to the celtic tiger we have recently imported a few trucks and vans for deliveries, in the main the donkeys have been pensioned off. We are pretty good at road building and thanks to the generosity of the EU we have quite a few nice new ones on the main routes. In fact our roads are pretty much the same as the rest of Europe, some good and some bad. There is access to virtually the whole country in large vehicles.

Our van is a bit bigger than yours and we have never been in difficulty.

Sorry for the hint of sarcasm but I can never understand why people expect Ireland to be inaccessible as though it's in some remote part of Africa.

Edit: I should have said you can expect a warm welcome too, Alan.

Edit again: I should have said that if you put this in Touring Ireland you may get more replies and if you look there you will find plenty of useful information.
