Hi...we're absolutely brand new to Motorhoming, just got our first vehicle this week, so excuse our naivety!

It's already got an Oyster Satellite system fitted, but the previous owners have (understandably) taken the Freesat receiver with them. However, they're kindly left all of the wiring in place in the cupboard... it looks as though they have spliced into the 12v supply and fitted a fuse and switch, with a standard 12v jack plug on the end.

We've bought the Goodmans Freesat box as it is 12v - but it comes with a 240v lead with the 12v jack plug and the manual says that we should only use this to power it.

...but obviously I want to use it in 12v mode so we can use it without hook-up

do you think it should be ok to use the existing 12v lead that the previous owners have left in place?

Thanks!

We've had one for a couple of years. Forget how long in fact and which model, but it has HD. It works perfectly wired directly to the 12V leisure battery supply. I've only used it via the SCART output so far, but might replace the old TV set to get one with HD some time.
