Hi

What facilities are usually offered at storage sites?

We're off to collect our new (used) motorhome from current owners soon and are not quite sure where to take it... it needs a good clean and we need some time to familiarise ourselves with it (motorhome virgins are we...). Bringing it home is not an option; we live in central london with only street parking.

So... should we take it straight to a storage facility (which we haven't booked yet..) and clean it there? Do they allow you to stay in your home on site and are there usually facilities to clean it there?

Really really don't have a clue - this is all new!! Confused

Generally storage sites are just that storage only. Some have facilities to wash van other have no facilities at all. It might be worth looking at insurance depending on what type of storage you choose.

Best to book a site for a night or 2 close to home. That way if you forget anything major you can pop home.

Good Luck and have fun!

Hi.
The CC. Site at Amberley fields Crawley have a storage area,it had the facility and power washer to clean van,it also had a touring area, where you could book onto for a couple of nights to do a shake down cruise.
This was late 80's,so may have changed,as you are in central london, you may think it is a bit far,but lots of Cockaneese?!! LOL. keep there units there. Hope this may be of help.
Ted.
PS. I have lived within the n/s. circularand have relatives who are cockaneese,so no offence is ment, just a bit of fun.
PPS. ........

If you will need to store your van whenever it's not in use, I suggest you start looking for suitable storage soon. Our neighbours parents couldn't find anywhere in the London area, that could take their caravan last year and ended up storing it here in the West Midlands.

Go online and look at the CASSOA website - http://www.cassoa.co.uk/Caravan_Storage_Home.aspx

Most insurance companies give a discount. Unlikely to find one that allows you to stay, but mine has fresh water, washing faciilties for the vehicle and soon will have toilet disposal point
 Near enough ?

I keep my van on a top rated site, Norsted Manor, located at Pratts Bottom (yes, really ), near to Biggin Hill. Just over the Bromley border to Kent. Not far from Junc 3 of M 25.
Some undercover storage, and plenty of outside ones.
Facilities to wash down, with ladders and brushes ready to use.
They are a licensed Caravan Club site as well, on a field opposite storage gates, but only a water supply, so you will need to be self sufficient if choosing to stay over to get the hang of things.
And the views are very good ones, over the distant London sky line.
