Some sites charge for what I would call a Safari Room as they do do damage to grass after a while and they make trouble for the mower person.
Anybody charging for a wind-out is just trying to get more money without it seeming too obvious.
In other words, they are being dishonest.
As Sysinfo says - go find a prpoer campsite and tell us which site it is!

They are taking the Pitch.

We stayed at a site in Lancashire.

I arrived, they demonstrated with a corgi model motorhome and caravan as to.

How I should Park
How I should place any awning
How I should do this that and the other.

Fair enough I thought, their site their rules.

Then The woman wanted to charge me for the wind out Omnsitor and my Wife's Car when she arrived after work.

I told her I would not be paying for an awning or my car. She huffed and puffed, went away to speak to someone and came back to announce.

That she would not charge me for the awning or the car. But I was not allowed to wind the awning out and Mrs. TM would have to park in the car park.

So I then asked why the car park was not full?

She said she was not sure what I meant. I said well have all the caravaners paid for the cars?

No, you are allowed to bring a car with a caravan.

I then said well you need to put my wife's car reg in your system to allow her to enter the site. (Any Ideas where I am talking about yet (ANPR Camera?).

She said, but you are not paying for the car, so. Your wife can enter the car park without coming in through the barrier.

Yes, But she will want to unload the car when she arrives!

Eventually, the car reg went in the system.

We parked the car next to the Motorhome and we wound the awning out.

I never paid for either of the aforementioned.

If they had insisted, I would have left.

Simple.

TM

PS:

I have yet to go to a site on the Continent where I......

Have to park a certain way/direction
Pay for an Awning
Pay for 1 car (more than 1 I can understand)

Hi.
This is a bit tricky,i am not one to nit pick, but as i have nothing to do at the moment,i looked up "Awning". Two or three said that an "Awning" was a roof like structure that wound out over an area,to give shade.
Now then,,you could argue that a c/van awning is a Tent/Shelter?.So in the interest of fairness, lets ALL!! not pay for our,"Whatevers". I am at a loss as to why you are charged for a car with a m/home,as some pitches are advertised as ... Pitch for unit/awning and car and the little drawing shows Car/Unit/Awning. Where i would charge, would be for a trailer for a car,you pay for a pup tent,so, park your car on the trailer when on site,or pay for the trailer, its that simple.
Ted.
PS. As i said above it says on the advice,"Pitch Car/unit/Awning,no where does it say,"Car/unit/Awning/Trailer?.
Goodnight..... "Hic"

Evil or Very Mad hi the-cookies. that is why we never go anywhere in England with the m/h. only abroad . in England if we had to we would use the 5 cl's only not the big site's to noisy and a rip off. for the winter in Spain we have a few hand picked big site's we stay at but mainly use Aries & stellplatz they are good enough for us .jud Very Happy

We have never paid to wind out our awning and if we we were asked to then it would be time to move on.

The wind out awning or sun canopy does not damage the grass and can normally be contained within the designated pitch so why should you be asked to pay extra?

Total rip off imo and I agree with jud-the reason why so many of us go abroad. Rolling Eyes
