Hi

Can solar panels of different sizes (watts) both be connected to the input terminals of the same solar charge controller? which is effectively connecting the output wires of the panels to each other + to + and = to =.

Am i correct in thinking that as the panels outputs are now connected in parallel the charge controller will see the combined amperage of the panels.

Many thanks
Lee

Thanks Techno

The smaller panel specs state that it is protected against current trying to enter the panel back up the wire, so i assume the higher amperage of the larger panel, on the wire, won't be an issue for it.

Yes, but make sure that the voltage regulator can cope with the higher load.
I've just had a 65 watt panel 'daisy-chained' to a 80 watt panel but had to have the regulator changed to handled the increased load.

You should have no problem.

I even use a wind turbine and a solar panel linked together.
