I have a 2002 hymer b644 and the waste tank has a large bore pipe that exits the tank, approx 40mm outside diameter, it was supplied with a matching hose, internal diameter approx 40mm, outside diameter approx 46mm. the problem is that the hose is only about 6 feet long and if we are on a pitch which has its own drain, the hose no where near reaches.
Does anyone have a tip for creating some sort of adapter, or know if one exists, which can be used to change the hard pipe from the tank into something i can push a normal hose lock garden hose onto? ideally not a permanent solution, something that can be put on and taken off simply.
The larger the bore, the quicker it will discharge and the less likely you are to trap small food particles; joints will make any problems worse.
I bought some black flexi hose from a garden centre (used for ponds/waterfalls) and use that to get to where-ever. It is only 6feet long and is quite sufficient for most eventualities. On the one occasion when I had a drain on the pitch, I just moved that bit closer every 3rd day, for 5 minutes
My pipe stores in the gas locker, coiled into 2 circles with the open ends joined by a short piece of rigid pipe - reduces nasty smells / draining fluids if I haven't bothered to rinse it out (ie most times).
Lost my waste hose that came with the van. Utilised the flexi pipe off an old hoover that we were chucking out, works a treat. You can attach a length of plumbing pipe to the end if you require extra length.
I also like the advantages you get with the larger bore which is why i'm not after a permanent solution, but rather something i can fix/slide on when needed. unfortunately my experience has been different, and i've found that a vast majority of the time it isn't long enough. our previous hymer had a far smaller bore with a threaded end, which was perfect for a hose lock fitting and a long length of standard hose pipe in the boot. thanks for the tip regarding the short length of pipe to connect each end of the hose together.
The best i have come up with at the moment is getting a second large bore hose, cak tanks sell them, but they're £20 and it would be clumsy to carry and only gives another 6 feet, they could be joined with a piece of rigid pipe from wickes, i think.
What size is 'plumbing pipe' and how would it attach?
I was hoping someone had also found this an issue and managed to come up with a solution.
Whilst in Italy this year I bought 5m of White flex for the Hymer fit. You can buy the same thing at pond supply companies, plastic supply companies etc
I bought a 3 meter long pipe as sold for ponds and cut it in half to carry it across bike wrack and then got a short bit of waste pipe to join together to reach under hedge.

I had loads of plumbing pipe(just my name for it, may be called household waste pipe) in the shed and i utilised a piece, all it is is the stuff you use when you are working on the house(under the sink, bathroom etc, dead same stuff).
If you havn't got any lying around i would have just taken my utilised hoover pipe to the plumbers/builders merchant as the plumbers/waste pipe comes in all different diameters.
We have made up a 6 metre length of flex hose bought from a caravan shop. Its only 30mm dia but our Hymer waste takes a 40mm waste, bought a 90 degree bend from B & Q and glued the smaller pipe into it.
In case it's of any use to anyone; I knocked an adapter up using some bits at wickes.
It's a connector for 40mm pipe whereby the ends screw in to force rubber pieces to seal the pipe, into one end is a blanking plug for 40mm pipe, this plug has a hole drilled into it, with a hose lock connector through it.
the hose lock is a two piece affair; the normal part that screws onto a tap, and the inner part that would be used on smaller taps, which the outer part then screws onto. the inner part threads snugly through the hole from the inside, with the other part screwed over it from the outside.
in use the adapter is slid over the 40mm hymer outlet and then the large nut thing turned by hand until tightish, then i clip my normal long hose onto it and drop the other end down the drain. been tested and doesn't leak so i'm happy.
It's not the prettiest of things but i already had the hose lock so it cost me about £3 in total for the plumbing parts.
