Hi

Hopefully a quick one for someone;

My solar panel charger/regulator has 3 pairs of connections; + and - from the panel, + and - to the battery, does anyone know where the third pair go?

Many thanks
Lee

On some controllers there is a Load connection, that switches the load off below a certain voltage to protect the battery.

Does this 'load' connection go to the elektroblock?

No, just leave it disconnected.

Indeed most people leave it disconnected. It would be quite a hassle to rewire the Elektroblock around it.

It's a van i purchased that already had the solar system installed and it's already connected, i'm trying to get an understanding of what's what.

I'm not sure i understand what you mean by "switches the load off".

when you say "switches the load off below a certain voltage to protect the battery", am i correct in understanding that this means the charge controller checks the voltage of the battery using these wires, and once the lower threshold is reached; ? (stops anything taking further power from the battery?)

Thanks

I seem to remember somebody suggesting connecting an invertor to these teminals to avoid it flattening the battery. Is this correct/

You have not mentioned what type of solar regulator you have. If it is a Schaudt unit (e.g. LRS 1218 or LRS 1214) then presumably it is connected directly to the Electrobloc rather than the leisure batteries? If so, you need not make any other connections - assuming that you do not have one of the latest Hymers with LCD display for the Electrobloc.
The Schaudt controller has a third pair to enable you to connect either a separate charge display meter to it - part number IT300, or to connect a signal to the most recent Electroblocs. If indeed you have this regulator, the terminals into which the IT300 connects will be marked "Signal Starter-Batterie" and "Signal Wohnraum-batterie".
