As my old (4 years) tower has shown some signs of age the last few weeks. i.e. the blue screen of death and locking up now and again.

I thought it was about time to upgrade and seek out a new PC computer. This one seemed very good value so ordered one.. Cool

New PC

Ooopsss link didn't work.......... try......

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WIN-7-QUAD-CORE-3-0GHz-8GB-DD R3-PC-COMPUTER-2TB-/250795607421?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item3a6495457d

I have also added Wi-Fi, Card reader, extra DVD-CD combo and leads to add my 1TB HD as a slave for another £35.

Comments please?

Ray.

Those kind of problems can usually be remedied by a re-install of Windows. So, unless PC doesn't meet your needs anymore for other reasons like speed, there is no need to upgrade just because of blue screens, etc.

Thanks Pieterv.
I did consider that a reinstall but felt I might get myself in limbo. I need internet access all the time or I get very sharp withdrawal symptoms.

After the new one is up and working I might do as you say and keep the old one as a standby.

Ray.

It looks a good value package Ray. Plenty of scope for anything you throw at it in future.
Don't forget they are only as good as the backup system you install

Thanks Bill and Clive.
Yep, up to now the old HP PC has a 'Media Drive' slot for a 500GB back-up drive.

I hope to continue to use that externally via a USB once a week. Vista and I guess 7 has the auto back-up facility.

Ray.

My PC has a remote function that clashes with any system backups or utilities - called my wife. Whenever I start a backup or defrag she wants to change users - usually without worrying about what is running so she can go on Facebook or play Gardens of Time. GRRRR.

Hi spatz1.
It is a quad and has Windows 7.

Are you saying Apple i7........??

I don't WANT to change it every 4 years it's just playing up at this age. All my previous laptops and towers have been bought stateside much cheaper than here. But I might not get stateside for a few more years and the price gap is narrowing.

Ray.
