Well hello ,first time motorhomer here!Got me e-reg Comanche (Classic !) at what i thought was a good price and girlfriend and I Love it ! Only had it a short while and have spent many weekends in it already! BUT ....
Have lots of questions and couldnt find any answers , so hopefully ican get some now .. Should start with 2 easy ones first !
Firstly , can you get hold of a decent workshop ( haynes) manual for the engine? All i have is a pocket mechanic, but it seems very vague (unless you need valve clearances !).
Secondly . There is a rattling noise whilst driving, it sounds like a simple rattle to solve, but on further investigations I was drawn to the steering. Found the steering shaft goes into 'a mechanical steering box' Looking at the book i got , it says the oil should be 20mm from the top..??? I couldnt see any oil in there ,and whats more the book doesnt tell you WHAT kind of oil should be in there!!!!
Got lots more questions to come , but would be happy with some guidance here first ! Gotta start somewhere.. Maybe il just list my concerns next time!!! Sorry for the long one , but im a newbie and feel likeiv found where the comanche people are hiding !!!
Thanks
Leigh

Try your local mercedes commercial dealer, ask the parts department for oil for the steering box and see what they say! Remember though that the oil from your box has gone somewhere so you probably have a seal gone somewhere in the box.
