I think it really is on an American garbage truck chassis. I've worked out why the windows are missing from the exterior shots now - it's a "Pop Top"!

Apparently the guy who owns it is some sort of Origami expert using $1 bills. Full Timers take note - it must pay well.

I think it may be a product of the German company Action Mobil.
