Hi, I'm looking to buy a 91 544. the guy is advertising it as having a citreon engine on a mercedes chassis. Anyone ever heard of this before. it sounds outlandish to me. but i could be wrong. i was thinking someone has just changed the engine cover from a citreon to a mercedes one.

Hi stony,

Older Mercedes engines are much sort after for taxis etc. At a given point in time, another engine will fit the engine blocks. Obviously this generation could be replaced with a citroen.

The way I see it is this, how can the vehicle have any intergrity? The engine might have done five times the mileage of the chassis and be knackered, of course it could be vice versa.

This is so wrong it is impossible. The mercedes chassis is rear wheel drive and the citroen is front wheel drive. The citroen engine will not fit the merc gearbox and the chassis cannot be converted to front wheel drive to use the citroen gearbox so this person is either 'mistaken' or very confused. I would be very interested to see this vehicle. The only other possibility is that someone has put a mercedes badge or complete bonnet on to a citroen based hymer and confused everyone.
