Hi I must have read about every drive away awning available , the awning I require must be quick to put up, good quality etc,my motorhome is a Burstner A647G , the one that seems to fit the bill is a Khyam probably the £ 499 one, any comments on the khyam brand, also does anyone know of dealer that would do a PX as I have a Brand new Ventura Atlantic Verde to fit a Swift 480 caravan to trade in & don't want to use eBay , any thoughts welcome

We had a Khyam Motordome Excelsior,it was very easy to erect but took an age to peg down due to the numerous guy ropes.

It was used as a day tent rather than an awning though.I found the material to be a bit on the thin side and the UV protection only average. It did get very hot inside on a sunny day.

We sold ours on e-bay and got a good price for it which may be your best option with the old awning rather than a dealer p/ex........they are there to make a profit Rolling Eyes

Have a look at this thread-;-

We had a motordome sleeper with the VW. The drive away for that was really simple, it will be more convoluted for a full height van though. having said that I would have one for my full height van in a heartbeat, but our current use of moving every day means it's too much hassle. I'll be getting one for our next summer holiday were we will be static for about 2 weeks. It takes 5 mins to erect and maybe another 15 mins to fully peg down. Give it 7-10 mins and it will be habitable in all but the windiest of conditions.

Satisfied now I´ve gotten rid of my Marquis supplied Autocruise- both were rubbish!

We use one regularly. Take minutes to erect, much longer to peg down though, but then it tends to be on hardstanding so can prove a bit tricky. We also use it more of a day tent and no longer attempt to attach to the fiamma. The flap that connects is too long and not taut enough so water collects. We also have an inner which was about £50 for visiting kids etc. The only thing I think that could improve it is a vent in the roof section as on wet nights and with people sleeping in there condensation collects. It does seem thin but has done us for 3 years now. Dries very quickly. It's easy enough to put up for weekend jaunts. I can put up and take down and I'm only 5ft. Be careful though the sleeve things that go over the joints to lock are nasty if not handled properly. Needs two people in windy conditions, one to hang on the other to peg down. We use ours in winter too.
