My Boxer (2005) has a very loose fitting rubber edging around the drivers side of the windscreen, so much so that it starts lifting at higher speeds.

Does anyone know if it is ok to mastic this down, sufficiently to avoid it lifting and eventually coming completely off. If so, should it be mastic'd to the vehicle body, or the screen (or both).

I'd be tempted to just put a couple of small blobs of clear silicone at the back of it, just enough to hold it in place, but not so much you'll need a new rubber if the screen needs to be changed.

Do you mean that the whole rubber and therefore the screen itself may fall out? Could it be just the infill.
If the whole surround is coming away, this is not a cosmetic repair but a safety issue and may require more than a little mastic. Where it seems to be loose fitting it may need further investigation as to why this is possible.
As for the use of mastic, many windscreens are virtually glued in and the extra cost of replacing the rubber measured against both the screen becoming loose and inevitable rust forming beneath the rubber, would be negligable.
Is it possible that a part of the metal screen edge is deformed and therefore the rubber cannot tightly fit the edges?
You need to weigh up whether this problem is cosmetic or structural.
