Hi everyone , whilst touring lakes of austria , Called into worthersee, with a hope of finding a wild camping spot on the lake ,but no chance , we checked camperstop Europe for aire or gasthof to no avail ,even bordatlas on my sat nav didn't come up with anything . We stumble across only campsite on the worthersee , may be of help to some one , small campsite ,grass pitches ,small shop , shower and toilets again small but very good , dump facilities , restaurant at the top of campsite also a guest house , own privatebeach and bar on the river , 100m walk down a steep wood , no good for disabled, 28 euros for 2 in august , here's the name. weisses rossl ,velden auen. Auenstrasse 47 , worthersee sud , may help someone. Regards Gary

Thanks for that, certainly has helped. We are currently in Hallstatt and looking to move to Worthersee tomorrow, so are heading for the camp site you mentioned, once again motorhomfacts has come up trumps.
Weather here is wonderful at the moment and if anyone else is interested we are at Camping Hallstatt which is a lovely little site, a 5 minute walk into the lovely town of the same name.
Thanks again

For anyone wanting to stop in the same area, not far from the Wothersee try Ossiachersee next See north. Excellent ACSI CC site their name Camping Jodl. We have been there 8 times for 6 weeks in latter years. There again in April. www.camping-jodl.at No 853 Page 362 in 2012 ACSI Camping Card Book.

The Ossiachersee area is in my opinion not so built up as the Worthersee with small villages around it and the Mountains all around it with the Gelitzen at eastern end. Good shopping facilities at both ends of the approx. 8 mile long lake and some along the north side. Jodl is situated on the Southern side and is much quieter. Villach lies on the south eastern end and Feldkirchen lies a few miles away on the west end. Easily accessible from the main A10 motorway from Salzburg to Italy and Slovenia. Both countries can be visited in a day. More on this area on my website www.joysofeuopeancaravanning.co.uk
