Has anyone recently eaten out in Beddgelert? What places get the thumbs down and does any one have a good recommendation for a good lunch.

Hi.
I think you may find people a little shy of recommending anywhere,as it is a seasonal area, and chefs come and go,you may be better to ask some local trades-people? LOL.,as they usually have their finger on the pulse. Me,i just walk in,see whats on diners plates, sit down or walk off, however,i am easy pleased,i can eat anything however cooked, and although i do appreciate a good dinner,as long as i have been well fed,i am happy. "As it comes",springs to mind.
Gearjammer aka Gannet.
PS. Advice from my father,"Don't be to choosy in life son,you may miss a rare treat". Well nearly what he said! LOL.
nothing to do with the food, but are you staying at the Forestry Commission site?
We stayed last year and approached the site through Beddgelert village on a Sunday afternoon. It was one of the worst driving episodes in my life. Other days were OK though
The road from Porthmadog has some interesting stretches blind corners on very narrow roads.
Approaching from the north is highly recommended if you have a choice
Hi peedee
nothing to do with the food, but are you staying at the Forestry Commission site?
Yes we stayed at the Forestry Commission site. We arrived from Betws-y- Coed, fortunately on a Monday and the roads were very quiet. The A498 is a very narrow descent down to Llyn Gwynant but then opens out for the run into Beddgelert. Any of the approaches seem to have their narrow sections. We arrived in a howling gale and driving hail and rain, not the best introduction to a tree covered site. The following day was fine and dry and I can recommend the Saracen's Head and the Ice Cream parlour in the town.

P.S the Welsh whisky is pretty good stuff too!
