I've just joined MHF and have been dithering over purchasing our first motorhome for a number of years now. We have 2 young sons and whilst I really want a motorhome having hired regularly for annual trips to Le Mans my wife isn't so sure that we'd get enough usage. What we do agree on is that we'd want something modern, probably a 6 berth coachbuilt with bunk beds and seperate shower. I'd also like air con and ideally the transit chassis but, apart from that, we're desperate for some advice from those in the know!
I've recently seen Chausson Flash 03's and Eurostyle products which look good but do we buy new or nearly new?
I'm sure the van would get plenty of use - main holiday, weekends away, Le Mans / Goodwood etc so any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome. You seen to have a good idea of what you want. I suggest you look at as many as possible by visiting dealers. Imagine yourself using them and check that the facilities suit you. You will quickly find that there are many you can rule out at a glance for one reason or another.

In this way you should be able to narrow the choice down to a few which will suit you and you will get a feel for the right price.

Personally I think European made vans are better than UK made ones, but I know others would differ.

Good luck, we find that looking at vans is at least half the fun, Alan.

How sure are you that you must have a motorhome. Calder Leisure do a 5th wheeler that has all your requirements, and then you have a vehicle to use everyday (and while away).

But it's all a matter of personal preference.

If it is possible for you to go to the Shepton Mallet Motorhome Show in a couple of weeks time or if that is too far, you could try the Lincoln Show near the end of the month. At these venues you can see perhaps the largest selection of Motorhomes possible and be able to ask as many questions as you wish and I am certain that you will be able to find a van to suite you.
Look at a lot, decide what your priorities are and perhaps take with you the family to get their thoughts.
There is no such thing as a perfect van! So find one that includes the least compromises.
Good luck!
Alan
