Hi to everyone.

Its my first time on the site......i have a few questions and yes .. its the age old question of mmmmmy goodness this van is thirsty.
I own ( just purchased ) a 2006 ci ciorica 665g , lovely van and only done 12,000 k. Its like new, also just had it remapped which ( powerwise ) is superb, rarely comes out of fifth gear now.
We travelled 320 miles at the weekend and she used £155...yep £155... travelled between 50-60 .
Tire pressures , ok no brakes binding no leaks ??? Serviced, air filter clean.
Any ideas ?? has anyone had an issue with the fiat 2.8JTD 2006 MODEL ? Maybe a diesel pump or injector issue ??
Thanks for reading this plea !!!

If you get any more than 25/27 mpg, you are doing well. MHomes aren't the most areodynamic of things, especially those with a great big bulbous front end.

We get about 23 out of our 2.0 JTD Carioca 625, and 0-60 in about 3 weeks. Crying or Very sad

I would get the re-mapping checked again.
50p per mile is greedier than a jumbo jet Smile
My 2.8jtd (2005 Auto-Trail) returns 24 to 28 MPG at the speeds you suggested.

By the way, WELCOME.

I would be concerned if mine was like yours as I average 30 to the gall towing a trailer. How good was the remapping as there is a question mark here esp. as you say it drives like a sports car.I keep to 50/60 as the law demands when towing and use the highiest gear that feels right and I have kept a record of every gallon used for 5 years.
I do use 2 fuel additives viz. a cetane one and 2-stroke oil for extra lub to inj. pump as lost one and the injectors when the sulphur was taken from the diesel leaving less lub for the pump to run in. Cost 3 grand and so far no probs with this one.
Cool fuel economy.

Welcome and we all hope that you can identify why your vehicle seems to be using so much fuel. You say that it cost £155 for 320 miles, which from a very poor maths calculations appears to be about 110 litres of fuel.....

110 litres of fuel is about 24 gallons for 320 miles is approximately 13 miles per gallon, so assuming that my maths is correct (never a good idea!!! Laughing ), the word "ouch" comes to mind......

Our Kontiki does about 24 mpg working at around 60mph maximum (yes officer genuine 60...... Embarassed ), so there is a problem that needs to be identified a.s.a.p.

Are you sure that there is no fuel leak anywhere? It sounds as if fuel is going missing somewhere if it is not being used in the engine, worth a check along the fuel route that you can see that there is no obvious leak. It might be while the engine is running only, i.e. when the fuel pump is pressurising the feed to the engine.

Good luck, we all hope that you can find the problem and that you will enjoy being on MHF, it saved me the joining fee with the first three posts!
