I have a Fiamma F35pro which is still perfect. However, it lifts out of the casing and is manually unfurled. Then deploying is pretty much as usual.

Following good advice on MHF I bought a Sunncamp Aspect DL driveaway awning.

As my Fiamma is not a wind out, I knew the Sunncamp could not be fixed to the leading edge of the awning (that winds up inside like a scroll).

However, I thought I had seen a kind of J shaped kit advertised that would fix to the casing - either bottom or lid edge. It was a fabric and plastic arrangement.

I've had a go getting the guys over the top of the van with a clothes prop and have looked at suction thingys Laughing - That's before anyone says anything!

Really would like to fit it to the awning though, as that is so much easier for me, so am back here being boring again today!

Thank you all,

- Helena.

Don't know about the awning fitting kit but if you want to throw the guy ropes over the van the easiest way is with one of those dog chasing balls on a short rope. Tue the guy to the rope and chuck the ball over the roof.

You can buy awning rail sections (self-adhesive plastic, with a groove on the outside). Our local caravan shop has them - last time I looked, I think it was around Ģ14 for 3 metres or something like.

J rail will not work, you need a C section rail which can be fixed with self tapping screws and will stay on permanently.

Peter

C Section Awning Rail 1.2m X 3

Ideally suited to motor homes wishing to attach an awning or caravans wanting an additional rail.
Length 3 x 1.2 metre strips (total length of 3.6 metres).

Comes complete with self-tapping screws.

Creates a totally waterproof seal between the caravan/motorhome or rail.

Self adhesive backing, to hold rail securely in place whilst positioning and screwing for ease of fitting

You wouldn't think anyone could make this so complicated would you?

Thanks very much for the links and suggestions - I'm going to do the ball one this weekend until I get to the next habitat service in a few weeks. That is one neat trick.

Tha C section is exactly what I need and did consider it first - However, I 'bottled out' as soon as I realised it had to be screwed as well as stuck.

Slightly worried about screws in the fibre of the older Harmony roof - would it make it fragile/crack/leak/strain as the van is getting on a bit?

JCM is gonna know!
