Married daughter has new motorhome on order and can't wait to get started. She has always camped with us (tents, caravans and motorhomes) so not new to it. They want a couple of weeks in France with their 7 year old daughter at the start of children’s school holiday. Now hoping for some suggestions in a region that I'm not too familiar with. We have visited France many times and last year, drove up through the Auverne on route back from Spain and it looked great. Unfortunately, never had time to stop then but decided we would go back, so going down there with them this year.
Daughter’s requirement is: Not necessarily the Auverne, but south far enough to stand a good chance of good weather. Not too far from a town (likes good restaurants). Good scenery. Good walks. Cycle if possible. Most important through is somewhere nearby to use their canoes (and get me out there with them too!).
Her husband has not camped before, so looking for a quality site to break him in gently. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help, John

We don't recommend sites as a rule as every one has different needs. Have a look at:

We stayed at Camping La Filature de la Sioule, Gannat just off A71 junct 12 in September 2004.

It's on the side of a river, the English owner is very accommodating, lending canoes to us for a play on the rapids. (not very big ones!)

It is walking distance into the village & not far from Vichy where you can partake in the extremely disgusting but supposedly healthy water!...

The puy de Dome & Clemont Ferrond is within driving distance.

Hope you all have a nice time.
