Hello folks!

Does anyone have any experience, information or ideas about an air ride type addition to the rear leaf springs on an old Merc 207d Autotrail?

I have very low old leaf springs on mine and have wondered about putting on a DIY set of air bags.

Any advice or comment would be great please.

Regards

Antonia

Hi, our 1982 meredes based hymer has an air-ride system fitted. It is a very simple system with air 'bags' between the chassis and the rear springs and just a gauge and an air valve just inside the door. I run it at about 50psi and it does seem to improve the ride quite a bit as these old mercedes chassis are rather crude and harsh by modern standards,(they still have a live axle and leaf springs at the front!). Our van came with the system already fitted so I have no experience of fitting the system but would think it is very easy for a competent d.i.y. mechanic to do.

Hope this helps
