Freesat is only available on Freesat receivers.
Freesat is NOT available on your Comag.

The "free to air" channels, many of which are on Ffreesat, others available on "non freesatmode", and on a sky box without a sky card, will be available on your comag.

Given the amounts of satellites up in the skies, there are many free to air channels that you will be able to receive....but many will not be in english.

www.lyngsat.com

shows all frequecies for all satellite...select a satellite and it shows you the channels available.

to help in pointing the dish use dishpointer.com - select the satellite youy want, place the icon on the google map, and it shows you the directions to point the dish.

It also depends where you are in Europe (presumably) as to what satellites you can actually 'see'.

We don't have Sky, but we're currently watching the Murray tennis match on Eurosport, but the German version on Astra 1 (19.2E), which is Free To Air.

Apart from that, we're always on Astra 2 for the standard Brit channels.

See if you can pull in the World Cup rugby. I know it is on ITVHD but reckon some of the french stations must be showing the matches?

We are in France from next Saturday and in the past, we sometimes had trouble pulling in ITV on normal Astra satellite when down in the Loire region and down to Bergerac.

We have a Camos crank-up and Micro M30 freesat receiver.

Any advice gratefully received.

Regards

Another question Gerald,

I am in the Dordogne area at present, using a portable sat dish, and atching freesat from Astra 28.2
Although Channel 5 always comes up in the available channels lists, it is never viewable. Is this normal?

Thanks.

If you can receive BBC2 England, then you will also get the "free to air" versions of C5....as thewy are on the same frequency - 10773 h

If you areusing the version on 12422 then you will need a Sky card in a sky box to watch it.

So it all depewnds which version of Five you are trying to watch.

I get BBC2 fine, and have now found C5, but it is listed as BBC News 24 !!!
On the channel listed as C5 I get nothing!

I have a Comag SL30/12 receiver, and a Triax TD54 Vision Plus portable dish, with an Easyfind LNB - if this helps, and tuned to Astra 28.2

Like i said, If you can receive BBC2 England, then you will also get the "free to air" versions of C5....as they are on the same frequency - 10773 h - so scan that freq and ye shall see.

If you are getting "Five" on the channel marked "BBC News 24" then your comag is not updating the channel lists properly with the new channel names. Sometimes, deleting all channels and doing a rescan will cure the old "channel on wrong names" problem...which is a common cause on FTA receivers.

Or just go into the editor and change "BBC News" to "Five"!!!!!

TR5 wrote:

Well, that may be one of the encrypted Fives that need a sky card (your comag does not read those!), or it may say "Five" but it is a different frequency or channels - as we know your comag is mixing channels and names.

AS channels change their names and frequencies often, a rescan every so often will help.

Sorry, Neil I don't mean to hog your thread!

satandpcguy, funny how we were relating to satellite reception, and shortly afterwards my reception started tailing off, loosing the signal, until I could not watch any longer.

I found the LED on the Easy Find LNB to be no longer working, (before I lost all signals) and tried all the connections on the lead, the connections into the receiver and into the tele, and even changed/ re-made the two externally, but to no avail.

My question - do LNB's fail, and is this likely, or is it more likely to be the receiver, in your opinion.
The whole set-up is about 4 - 5 months old.

Grateful for your advice, as always.
