Hi can anybody tell me where to look for a sound problem on skype? I can hear the person I,m calling but they can,t hear me..I have configured all the sound levels..I think and done a sound test and eventually heard myself after one or two trials, but when I rang someone same problem. I thought it was the built in mike until the last test worked now I,m not sure??? the laptop is only a year old and recently I had to have it stripped to get it into English all the time.
Hope this isn,t too confusing?? the sangria might be kicking in!! Very Happy
I,m on windows 7. We are moving on tomorrow so may not be on line for a few days to get any replies...

Try a Skype test call using your internal mike. It's the top option on your Skype Contacts page and it's called Echo/Sound Test Service. The nice lady talks to you then you record a message which she plays back, if you can hear yourself then your mike is working.

Try that first and let us know how you get on, Alan.

Hi,

No apology for asking the obvious question, "Does the person at the other end have their sound turned up / not muted?"

Regards,
John

Sounds as though John is correct. If you can hear yourself on the playback then your end is OK.

May be worth a try Margaret but if your Skype test call is satisfactory then it seems your mike is working. See if you can bump into a Skype guru to give you a hand, there are plenty of people about who are completely familiar with it. I would volunteer to try helping but we are in Germany, Alan.

Margaret,

Sorry for the delay, I've been out for the last hour and a half ferrying / collecting a couple of my teenage children Sad .

Has the person you are trying to call tried doing a Skype test call at their end? This will establish that they can (or not) hear at least something.

Regards,
John

Margaret,

You may also want to have a look here Skype sound problem . I'm not a Skype user myself, but at least one of my teenage sons is and he suggested the above site.

Regards,
John
