Wait for Saddletramp (Les) coming on, he is the expert when it comes to Snoopers.

You might also consider >these< You can load your own POIs into these quite easily. Not sure whether Snooper now allows this or not, they didn't used to.

The choice has to be yours but here's my experience of Garmin.

o Nuvi 250 didn't work from new (not tested in time which was my fault)

o Garmin refused to honour warranty because it was one day expired.

o One phone call to Customer Services cost £8 from a mobile.

Spent the day with my mates out the box new Nuvi 1490t and came to the conclusion

o Garmn's website is as poor as their products.

o Out the box sat nav needed updates (several hours online for that).

The verdict - Wouldn't touch one.

Give your wife a navigation training course they are much better, cheaper and they can cook.

Keith.

I have 4 Garmins in total. 2 Streetpilot3 a Zumo550 and now a Dezl for the MH. The SP3 are getting on for 10 years old I reckon but still going strong, and are great linked into my m/bike intercom.

My dealings with Garmin have always been excellent, even to the extent of them replacing one unit that I fried by doing some homemade wiring. Perhaps they like my tone of voice when asking for help? Wink

I find the mapping when installed on the PC to be very useful to create routes and also to link with Google Earth to see places with one click.

I like the Dezl with its choice of vehicle size options and the way it will route you accordingly.

this the wife, the husband cant use the computer. the wife not only sets the tom tom, navigates when the tom tom gets us lost, cleans the motorhome inside and outside, including the roof while the husband goes to the saunna, empties the toilet and waste, fills the water tank, cooks, hoovers and shops. the only thing i dont do is drive because i would have to put a paper bag on his head and gag him because he would be too scared, even though my driving licence is better than his because i have full motorcycle entitlement. Some of us have it and some don't. And some of us don't cos we know someone who can.

I'm of the opinion that it should be mandatory for anyone wanting to drive with 4 wheels should have a minimum of 12 months on 2 wheels - now that would improve driver awareness!!
