Hi - I'm thinking of selling my iPad (Unlocked 16GB, 3G Version) and upgrading to the latest iPad 2 but before I commit myself I am interested to hear both the negatives and positives from others who have upgraded to the new iPad 2. What if anything do you prefer about the new version and what are the major improvements?
I have the ipad 2 which I think is great but I can't comment on the first ipad as I didn't upgrade.
Rumours suggest the ipad 3 could be available sooner rather than later... but that's rumour for you.
I have the iPad 1 and grandson has the 2. Not really a great deal of difference apart from the fact that the latest one has a camera included, good if you want to Skype.
The 2 is supposed to be a bit quicker in operation but to be honest you can't tell the difference. Screen quality exactly the same.
If I were you I would wait for the next version and see if there is any great
advantage in swopping, I am keeping my original one until I can see developments great enough to justify the swop.

I think I'm gonna hang fire for a while and do as Mike (Javea) suggests and wait to see what happens re future developments, as it would seem that the improvements although good are minimal. I do like the idea of the camera feature on the ipad 2 though as one of the apps that I have been using daily for the past 2 months in my weight loss plan, uses a barcode feature that tells you the calorie content of most branded foods and although I can take advantage of this on my iPhone, it would be very welcome on my iPad too.
The iPad 3 due soon you say ........ flipping heck I can't keep up!
At our Apple Mac Users Group on Tuesday evening, there was talk that version 3 would be out in October!!!
I don't think so. iPad 2 is still selling well, and there is little competitive pressure from other manufacturers. There are also rumours about low yields in display production for the new device. The best bet is that the iPad will continue an annual upgrade path, which means you can expect iPad 3 in March 2012-ish.
Our group have meetings in Dorchester - Bournemouth - Faversham and Salisbury. £20 a year for 48 meetings, i.e. if you want to attend them all.
Wow. So not only do Apple users pay over the odds in the first place for what they are buying, they then have to pay to join user groups to find out how to make what they have bought work. Steve J is undoubtedly a genius!
