The lappy and PC came with Internet Exploder installed and every now and again and again would crash and cause a few hiccups, so a lad at work suggested I went with Firefox Mozilla. This was duly installed and has seemed reasonably faultless, but, there are a couple of issues that I have with it. The most serious is that I have a couple of programmes which will not work with it and have a disclaimer that IE has to be the browser of choice and which simply will not work with Mozilla. What other option can I try out before i go back to IE? The lappy is running Vista and the PC is on Win7.

I have recently switched to "Google Chrome" from "Firefox", happy with it so far. Seems faster than Firefox.

Can I ask what the programs are that wont work with Firefox?

There are usually Firefox plug-ins that replicate such programs - usually free too.

I've also been using Google Chrome for a couple of years now and only a very few websites seem not to like it - including the online creator for my own websites, unfortunately, but I just use IE for that. GC does seem to be much faster than IE when browsing

I started using 'Opera' from a free download (www.opera.com) a couple of months ago after getting fed up with IE being quite slow. I had read an article somewhere that mentioned 'Opera' that I had never heard of until then.

Can't say I've encountered any problems to date and it is certainly faster on my creaking old laptop running XP.

well one's a slightly hooky copy of a Fiat programme that flatly refuses to run on anything bar IE and also not on Win7 either. Adobe flash player won't either, just tried Opera and flash player immediately works. So i'll give Opera a go for a while I guess.

For the record, flash will run as a plug-in in Firefox. Details here

Get rid of 'em and buy a mac.... no crashes and no issues to speak of from virus'.

MAC browser is safari and is very good but not sure how it will be as the pc format is the issue here IMHO.
