I have read athe previous posts and think that our problem is one of the door connections. Basicly our alarm went off at 4.45am, much to the annoyance of of neighbours! After Terry chucked me out the front door to check the motorhome....I tried to turn the alarm back on an I got a succesion of beeps so turned it off again. I tried to download the fault finder instructions from a previous post, but don't seem able to. Can someone advise me what I am looking for as there doesn't seem to be any obvious break in contact. I don't know which Sigma it is, it was already fitted and there was no paper work on it, but our van is an 08 if that is any help?
Thanks in advance
Lesley

You have either a door open or if you have magnetic contacts on the doors similar to a house alarm on has gone down.to find which contact is at fault if you disconnect one at a time and join the wires together then arm alarm once you stop getting the beeps you have found the contact at fault..hope this helps. Ps the alarm will more than likely be a sigma s30.
The white plastic housing can be unscrewed and removed from the door jamb and opened. The wires inside have to be KEPT APART in order for the alarm not to trigger.
Alarms tend to have 2 pairs of wires - one is an open circuit, the other is a closed circuit.
When my alarm goes off I now check the low-level locker switch first, as it often breaks when things get put in or out with a little bit of enthusiasm. I go to Maplins and buy a reed-switch (you need to know the right sort; I buy "changeover" types to access the connection I need), find the terminals which allow the current to flow, and use it to replace the previous item. When a magnet (fastened to the door) is nearby the reed-switch opens and the alarm is off. If someone opens the locker, the magnetic field is removed, the contacts close and all hell lets loose.
IF you are capable of doing this sort of electrical fiddling, it will cost you about £3 to fix; if you aren't, it may well be nearer £30 (assuming you have found the problem before taking it to the "experts").
Well, not sure what it was. Went outside with our daughter last night when she came round to demonstrate the long beeps. Alarm whent straight on, no problems! It has not gone off since. Touch wood it stays that way, but I will know what to look for if it happens again!
Thanks again

I am sure that there are many variations to the fitting of the alarm sensors. One area that I found to be a problem was the bonnet switch, which had collected some rust and dirt. It was a two minute job to replace and cost less than a fiver. It was like a door light switch, with a little plunger. The next area you could consider is the habitation door; mine has a magnetic sensor here which can get knocked out of line or have the wires pulled off as mine had.
Again I do not know your Sigma set-up; mine would go off after 15 seconds if not properly set up.
Finally, if all else fails, an auto electrician could be a last resort, to identify whether there was a faulty unit. This I had to resort to and he located several more minor issues. I should mention that all of these faults were repaired under warranty. Even the security 'sender' had failed on my 12,000 mile second hand van, so I must assume that the previous owner had not used the system at all.
Good luck!
Alan
