I would be grateful for anyone's comments on my plans to have a towbar/scooterack fitted to my Rapido 776 by Watling Towbars. Axle weights all checked and ok. I think they are one of the more popular fitters?
Also I am thinking about a newish Honda Innova 125cc (weight is I think 100Kgs). Will be ridden equally solo/two-up. Now I know its not the most modern of designs but it should be pretty bulletproof and offer straightforward owner servicing/maintenance? Or should I be looking at something more modern like a PCX 125?
Also particularly keen to hear from anyone that has one and what he/she thinks of it in use ie ease of loading onto rack - points to look out for when buying etc.
There is a thread about the pcx on here and it sounds superb but quite a bit heavier than an innova. Niether will break down but you will get more storage and I think performance out of a pcx.
I saw another thread on here about a new Honda 110cc Which i think was the liberty. I googles it and it was supposed to be out in august and you could arrange a test drive. Think it was only £1700 or so on the road but my worry would be if it has enough grunt on big hills. Innova also has step through gears which I don't like the sound of.
My view would be if you have te payload for a pcx get one.

I have a PCX and yes it is a good bit of kit. I live in Cornwall and it copes with the hills pretty well. I am getting about 108mpg, about 1/3 of the mileage is on a dual carriageway going about 60mph.
2 up is okay but you have to take a run at the Cornish hills. It is liquid cooled and will take a full face helmet under the seat or packed lunch.
We have a Chausson flash on a Transit chassis and Chausson have stated that it will not take a scooter rack.
I will have to put it on a trailer, not a big deal but a bit of a nuisance. I will probably change it in a year or so and get a bigger bike as that is the case.
The only issue I can see with carrying it, is strapping it down. The panel are wider than the steel bits and I think one would have to be careful not to get any rubbing on the panels.

I've just got back from the south of France [17 days] and we've a Honda PCX 125.
It's bloody marvellous!
My other half hadn't been on the scoot yet, as we only just bought it before going away. I would say it's a doddle to get in a out of the garage and at 120Kg it's a lightweight as you can get for a 125cc.
We progressed from 30mph on the initial ride, to just over 55mph after a day or so.
It's a very perky machine. A rough calculation has me at 120mpg
The start stop malarkey is great, stand at the traffic lights for 3 seconds and the engine cuts out, twist the throttle and it's instantly back to life.
It's not the cheapest of scoots but I think it may be reflected in the second hand values.
I posted the original link about the Honda Vision that was just about to be released, it's light and cheap, but that's all I know.
The givi back box to fit the scoot is £100, box, backrest and mounting plates.
Have you ever thought about Electric Bikes? They fit onto a standard bike rack (they're under 25Kgs each). They have a decent range (30-50 miles per charge) and cost around 0.20p per mile to run (yes - that nought point two pence per mile - not 20 pence).
And there's NO Tax, No MOT, NO Insurance and NO petrol costs!!
And you won't worry too much about getting back from the pub! Oh - and you'll get fitter as well!

Yes we have BUT:
I cannot travel at 50 to 60mph on an electric bike.
My tax is £15 per year
and
My PCX has cost, on average, 5.3 pence per mile since I bought it.
PLUS
I could not commute 60 miles to work and back on an electric bike.

Dont understand how you can easily charge electric bikes when you are mainly in aires. The inverter would cope but I guess you have to put two time 10Ah back at an efficiency of 50% overall?? That is 40Ah? I will stick to my 100cc Peugeot Vivacity scooter bought in 2003. With topbox it only weighs 95Kg, goes in the garage, carries masses of shopping and has not been baulked yet.
