Having lost the FAP lock from my fuel cap, broken a key in one side locker & broken the lock barrel in another I am now trying to source FAP barrels to match the 1 key I have on the rest plus either keys to match the one I have or key blanks to be cut by local locksmith.

Have tried a number of sources but had no joy.

Can find locks & keys on ebay but do not want to end up with 5 different sets of keys.

Anyone know of a source for these key parts?

Hi Dave

They breed 'em clumsy in Devon don't they! Shocked Laughing Laughing Laughing

Some lock barrels are quite easy to strip down and reassemble so that the wards are all in the same sequence in each barrel.

It sounds terrifying, but with careful observation as you strip, they are easy enough to reassemble. It's just a case of eyeballing the wards and making sure they are all assembled in the same order for each barrel.

Then one key fits all! Very Happy

Just need to check which barrels are easy to strip. Wink

Have you tried CAK tanks you can find them with a google search they stock a big selection of bits for the motorhome.

Thetford supply a lot of the doors there would be a stick in the door shut you might be able to buy a matching set from them.

Thanks for the tip, will try to strip down the locker barrel to gain access to the wards, will still need blanks though for new keys.

inkey-2008.

Thanks for the tip, have tried CAK tanks, no luck with FAP locks or key blanks, but can offer a solution which involves changing all the locks to one common key, and they can supply blanks. This will be a last resort due to the costs involved.

Hi again Dave

Why would you need new keys?

Assuming you have a pair of keys for one of the locks, all the others will be the same when you have finished butchering them - so those two keys will fit all the locks. (Not sure what you have left intact! Rolling Eyes Wink )

If you haven't got a pair of keys, a blank will not be a problem. I recently got a spare key cut and it wasn't difficult finding someone with a suitable blank.

Dave Very Happy

Thanks for the reply Dave.

Have managed to remove the lock barrel from the lock assembly but unable to dismantle the lock barrel to remove the wards. All looks to have been assembled & then sealed. Did find the reason that the lock failed though the two lugs on the end of the barrel that turn the locking assembly have sheared off, hence lock barrel beyond repair.

Need new keys as the only remaining key I have is slightly bent, the key that broke was the newer key, my local (master) locksmith is unable to provide a blank hence the need for a blank to cut. Will try farther afield to source a copy.

Would really like to keep with the FAP locks if possible as the drivers door is same lock & changing that looks to be a much bigger job. Hence the reluctance to go with the CAK Tanks solution of changing all locks.

Hi Dave

Have you contacted AutoSleepers Customer Service Dept?

Phone up and ask for Mark and if he can help, he will do his best. He is an experienced engineer, and very practically minded, so he may be able to suggest a fix.

Dave, thanks for the tip.

Spoke to Mark in Customer Service & then Alan in parts. Unfortunately cos the Luxor was actually built by Mirage in Italy, who have ceased trading, they were fitted with FAP locks, unlike AutoSleeper who use Zadi. They can supply a set of 6 Zadi locks with the same key but the barrels are not interchangeable with FAP barrels.

So back to square one, unless I want to change all locks to fit Zadi barrels.

I have found the manufacturers website in Italy & emailed them but have not received a reply as yet. Possibly my last hope.

Not all bad news, have found a source for an FAP key blank, which will overcome the immediate problem.

Many thanks for all your input Dave.

I am pretty sure that www.motorcaravanning.co.uk do the part you need. I emailed them today and they tell me they do Zadi FAP or STS barrels.
