Greenie,
I am trying to remember if there was anything about Emley Moor in the switchover briefing. Unfortunately, that is all at work. If you can send me your postcode I can look into it.
Out of interest, if you switch to normal ITV, is the news correct? If it is, then it will be because they are not currently able to transmit Yorkshire news in HD.
Gerry
Yep thanks Gezza if I switch to 103 on sky its proper news and Calendar just that foreign muck on 178 from back of beyonder Pennines it's all flingggging and singggging going on!
The situation in Yorkshire is similar to the rest of the country. The HD channels do not carry local news, this is only available on SD channels. If you continue to view the HD channels you will see the main national news and either Granada or London local news.
On BBC HD, no local news is transmitted; there is just a holding screen displayed.

When the digital switchover was announced, it was decided to give priority to where the educated masses lived and upgrade them first, and leave the heathens ont' moors to their black and white sets. Alas the time has now come to bring Yorkshire into the 21st century....

Not absolutely true as anyone can see that Digital Switchover was rolled out to the less dense populated areas first. Hence why London will be one of the last areas to switch.
Gerry
Although my remark was intended as tongue in cheek, I have to disagree with your comments about less populated areas first. The North West of England inc Manchester/Liverpool is probably only second to London in terms of population density in the Uk and yet has been digital for what seems like ages now; in fact didn't the digital switchover start in the NW, which brings me back to my original point of the educated masses....

Yes, you're right, but I wouldn't exactly call Whitehaven densely populated. In fact technically the first fully digital signals in the UK wre to two small villages in Wales. Following Whitehaven, Switchover progressed to Carlisle, Scotland, Wales and the South West. Granada only switched last Autumn.
Don't remember Liverpool ever being associated with the "Educated Masses"
