On the 26 September Talk Talk upgraded our local exchange (Howden 01430) to improve the broadband speeds.

Since the upgrade the service has worked very well during the day but after 7pm in the evening the service has been very slow and after 8pm we have had no Internet access at all. This has happened for the last three nights.

The service was very good with no problems before the upgrade.

I've mailed Talk Talk and I'm waiting for their response.

Does anybody have any thoughts on the subject please?

Regards

Don

Don, I have no personal knowledge of the Talk Talk service.

Have you checked their user forums?
http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/

They do have what they call OCEs (Online Community Executives) who might help you.

Hello Don,

We use Talk Talk (previously Tiscali) and it works fine for us. To be honest, the access speed doesn't seem to change hugely whatever time of day I use it.

Whilst it may be possible to get a better deal elsewhere, I am happy not to fix anything that's not broken in South Cambs.

hi Don,

We've been with TalkTalk/Tiscali for years and recently found our speed was awful rarely above 2Mb and frequent dropped connections.

Eventually we got a decent(ish) speed of 6Mb by joining the members forum and doing various tests on our line. They even sent us a new basic router although we had bought a new Netgear one which we are now using.

The OCE on the forum discovered we were on a fixed speed of 2Mb at the exchange and they were able to reset it remotely. They also put us on a new 12 month contract which was £2 a month cheaper (so much for loyalty)!

Phoning them is a waste of time IMHO

Steve

Don't hold your breath waiting for a reply from Talk Talk....customer services are useless.

Hi Steve,

We have been with Tiscali for a number of years and were very happy with them and Talk Talk.

It was on Monday when they upgraded the local exchange that our problems started.

We had no broadband at 20.00hrs and then it suddenly came to life and started to work properly.

I tried to join the members forum but I could not register, I'm still waiting to hear from them.

So all is well at present, lets hope the problem has been sorted.

Don

Moved to TalkTalk 18 months ago and their service was poor. I had trouble for thr first three months and they eventually got it to run in a haphazard sort of way, sppeds varied between zero and 13 mb/s. I got fed up with speaking to them and hearing excuses.

At the end of the contract I moved to another ISP. Running for a month now constant 17.5 mb/s and stable.

As others have said TalkTalk customer service is poor. The only time they really took an interest was when I was leaving.

Certainly, wouldn't recommend them.

Talk Talk email server has been intermittent over the last week or so especially at this time of night and through the night. It is currently down, the internet though is working fine.

I recently got a phone call from them offering to give me 3 months of my current service free for 3 months if I agreed to a 12 month contract. As I have 9 months to run on my current one I thought why not, it seems good to me and I agreed.
The next thing I received from them was a Welcome pack as if I was a new customer with £30 connection fee etc. I phoned them to query it and it was fairly well handled by a call centre somewhere who passed me to a 'retained customer' rep who confirmed none of this applied to me and I just carriy on as before with no additional charges. All she could say to me was 'it's the system' when i asked why it had happened.

I have just got an electronic 'how did we do' survey from them which of course gives ou some boxes to tick but nowhere to say how frustrating being one of their customer can be.

Hi Steve,

I joined the forum and got no response at all Shocked Shocked

I don't have enough knowledge to carry out any of the tests, I explained this but I was wasting my time. Embarassed Embarassed

I posted a couple of reminders and asking for help but nothing has happened at all. You must have been very lucky to get help.

Our broadband works fine until 7pm then nothing at all. I just wonder what they did when the upgraded the Howden exchange, before that every thing was working well.

I've mailed TT direct but they just keep asking questions I've already answered.

If this is the standard of TT service it's time to move on, easier said than done for me.
