Motorhomefacts has a new unique "Brand Booster Service".

Traditionally most companies have shied away from membership and contributing to discussion forums (in any industry) due to the hugely time consuming element of having to try and monitor busy sites for posts pertaining to their business / products (Motorhomefacts has up to 16,000 different posts per month added). I know this is what happens in reality having spoken with a number of traders who are members of MHF but none posters.

However this lack of participation can have long lasting and damaging effects if a posting is created questioning some aspect of that business and due to the company in question not having the time to monitor the site it then has the public appearance of ignoring customer issues and a thread can have many 1000s of viewings prior to any contribution by the business themselves (if at all). A system is therefore required to give prompt notification of business efffecting postings but without the resource intensive manual searching and reading of posts.

Due to our unique perspective as both a retailer / workshop(Outdoorbits) and also running the largest information portal in our industry we have come up with a system which we believe gives a business immediate access to any posts relevant to them and employing "push" technology so it consumes no time in use.

The way it works is a business licenses keywords / phrases relevant to them such as their company name / product names (Note no licensing is allowed for competitor business names) and any posts that have their licensed keywords/phrases immediately provoke a email notification to the client business informing them their business / product has just been posted about with a quick link to respond / view the post in question.

As an introductory offer and to allow businesses to see the service in action we are offering 1 free keyword for a month to test the service for any company.

This can provide business leads by allowing businesses to receive instant notification for instance should a potential customer ask on the site for a "motorhome dealer in devon" (If they have taken up that keyphrase service.

keyword / phrase can be any word / phrase related to your business (Note: not competitor company names)

The Brand Booster service initially has one tier of instant email notification, future plans include tiered notification periodicity i.e. instant / 4hr / 12 hr / daily

Maximum keyword / phrase length = 35 characters including spaces

We believe there are many benefits for both the consumer (members of motorhomefacts) and the trade companies as follows:-

Positives for the members, enhanced trade participation, faster responses to queries

Positives for traders : Potential new business leads / Improved brand image (due to faster responses / customer service care / customer relationship improved) / Reduced Workload / duration for social media, push technology informs you of business impacting postings, preventing reputation issues caused by slow / lack of responses to postings.

Our new Brand Booster service used in conjunction with our Unique Company Feedback facility which allows companies to gain a positive reputation using customer feedback, see Outdoorbits Feedback to gain perspective on how this operates.
If you are interested in testing out the system with a keyword / phrase for a month then please contact us / phone us on 0800 0337288 Option 2

I have just had a read through, and as a private subscriber I have a couple of misgivings. Does this mean businesses will get hold of my details or email address.

If I happen to mention in a totally innocuous post, battery, charger, and booster. Will I then get people trying to sell me batteries, chargers as well as booster seats, booster chargers and something to boost my battery?

Or am I just having a privacy panic attack?

no businesses will get hold of any information like that bigfrank, just what you post which is obviously for public consumption anyways Smile

as for advertising, the normal site rules will still apply for spamming you via PMs etc, but say for instance you posted "i am after a motorhome dealer in devon" and that phrase "dealer in devon" had been taken then they could then reply we are in devon Wink

so it works for you and works for the trader Smile

It would be good to see a few more traders on MHF but somehow I don't think those who regularly get bad publicity will come on, it's a no win for them, responding would be foolish.

I think there may be an unintended consequence too in that traders responding badly to criticism may just fuel public argument.

On the other hand perhaps they would smarten their act up, but I doubt it.

Anyway good luck with it. I look forward to seeing how it goes, Alan.

I think this is a great idea, I think as “erneboy” says this may encourage debate on posts relating to poor service from a trade member. However this works both ways erneboy, if a post regarding poor service from a company is highlighted by a member, it also opens the door for posts from other members that have had a good experience with the same company. As long as everyone plays nicely, and respects other members’ opinions, I think this can only be beneficial to all.

I do think that replies from trade members should only be made on the original post and in the first instance the private message facility should not be available. The trade member should only be able to PM the other member once that member has sent the trader a PM. This would probably help with the concerns of members regarding them being pestered by trade members’ being a bit forward with their sales patter. This would also mean that the trade member’s response to criticism would be more transparent and they may be more accommodating towards the initial complaint.
