I'm told there were two different 2.5 litre turbo diesel engines fitted to the phase 1 (1994-2002, I believe the dates were) "Boxer "
- an 8-valve engine without electronic engine management and
- a later 12-valve engine with electronic engine management.

I cannot find anything about this on the net, can anyone in this community tell me more?

My engine is apparently the 8-valve version for which I am told parts are very difficult to obtain - I was advised that I might do better to obtain a still-working engine from a scrap dealer rather than try to get mine overhauled (big end bearings and/or main bearings require to be replaced) but I have had no joy to date.

Has anyone got any views on this? And can anyone suggest where I might obtain an engine?
Cool mains and big ends

Hi Alan,

Your link doesn't appear to be working. Is this the website you meant to link to? http://www.no1gear.com/

Cheers,

Jock.
