I am downloading the above onto a XP desktop, which has been running with no protection. I had a message after it had been going for sometime to the effect that Non plug in and drivers have not passed the Windows Log testing to verify his compatibility with Windows XP. The installation is still copying files but doesn't seem to be getting anywhere - should I continue or refer to another Protection Product. I have had AVG on my XP laptop and that scans every email coming in.

You should continue. When it brings up the message do not stop, tell programme to continue. AVG advise this on the website.

I stopped using AVG and went to Avast instead.

I did tell it to continue but it had been running 15 minutes and still saying 'copying files' so to cancelled it. Its him indoors computer (who knows little of the technicalities so thought I would put AVG on it. Norton expires last year - since then he has not had any scams or viruses.
Will give it another go tomorrow. Wink

try downloading microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes both free the first updates automatically malware needs to be done manually, if you haven't got a firewall try pctools firewall plus also free but need to switch off windows firewall

good luck

I have just binned AVG as it was doing all sorts of daft things, well a Computer Boff did it for me and it took some getting rid of.

Now got Microsoft Security Essentials for free.

Best of luck.
