I wouldn't have thought painting or spraying on a sealant paint is going to cure any problems that you may have. I assume that you have some sort of leak that you are trying to fix. If water is getting in then it's almost certainly finding it's way passed the sealant around a rooflight or similar.

Most MH roofs are either constructed of GRP panels or aluminium skins over wood. The GRP or aluminium itself shouldn't leak but any joints will be the likely culprit. These could be joints between 2 sections of the roof or the joints around anything that is cut into the roof panel such as rooflights, heater flues, aerial mountings etc. The hard part will be to identify where the water is getting in and then reseal the offending item. It's the hard part because water can often get in at one point but then track it's way across the roof before appearing on the ceiling inside the van somewhere else.
