Hi

I hadn't given much thought to carrying a cookery book in the Blue Bus until a friend bought me the Caravan Cookbook by Monica Rivron; this beautifully illustrated book has given me a renewed interest in cooking different things in the van, rather than our standard dishes (pasta, rice or couscous with something). The roasted peppers and goats cheese quickly became a favourite.

I've now been browsing Amazon and spotted a few other interesting looking books:

The Campervan Cookbook; Life on Four Wheels by Martin Dorey is popular and we loved his TV series, but as vegetarians don't think there will be much for us here.

2 pan cooking; for caravans, motorhomes, boats and other small spaces by Cheryl Foster - has anyone tried this one?

The original VW Camper Cookbook; 80 tasty recipes specially composed for cooking in a camper by Steve and Susanne Rooker - will I get any new inspiration from this one, or does Monica Rivron cover it all?

Does anyone have any favourite cookery books they keep in their van?

CandA

I picked this one up on Ebay, some nice recipes but best of all is the Christmas cake recipe which requires you to have a food mixer - in a campervan!!!! and takes 3 hours to cook - just think of all that gas!

I picked this book up for 50p in a Millets sale a few years ago and I really love it. It isn't just a cookbook per se, but some of the recipes in it are great.

Dear Aldra

Hi

Thanks for the ideas. Happy to contribute recipes if someone is collecting them, but I agree the 3 hour cake is best done at home!

Unless of course you are living in your MH or are on an extended trip. Can't be without a Christmas cake can we? Laughing (My normal Christmas cake needs about 10 hours cooking so 3 hours sounds quite quick to me!)

I am still trying to put together a book! But did not get much of a response from fellow campers! So just going along with trail and error and trying out stuff in our van before I put it in a book! I do have a small slow cooker, remoska and double skillet, so will take recipes for any of these. The proceeds of the sale of the book will go to Mavis's charity.
