Hi there,
I am hiring a motorhome next year and after checking the terms and conditions was surprised at some of the exclusions, and it appears fairly common:-

9.7 The following are excluded from the Insurance cover:
9.7.12 Vandalism damage of any kind to the Motorhome; So if the motorhome is damaged other than in an accident, it is not covered?

12.1 Unlimited mileage is included with all bookings, subject to a fair usage policy of 1000 miles per week. 143 miles per day does not sound like unlimited mileage bearing in mind the idea of a motorhome is to travel.

19.2 For faults and repairs over and above the £50.00 threshold (including damage to windscreens and tyres), neither the Owner nor the hire company is responsible for any consequential expenses or additional costs incurred by, for example, hiring alternative vehicles, late arrival, missed ferries, additional accommodation, travel expenses or any third party claims in connection with a breakdown or accident. So if the motorhome breaks down and cannot be repaired what happens and at who’s cost?

There is a £1200 excess, £3000 if the vehicle is lost. I have found companies that will insure the excess for about £70, but what about covering additional costs in the event of breakdown? Any advice? Does MHF offer anything?
