Hi, Rich has a problem when trying to read Facebook notifications in his windows live mail. Operating system is windows xp on a sony vaio.
All other mail is not affected.
When he clicks on the facebook notification to open it he has an oblong window open. It tells us that ad2mcmpgdec.dll is missing and we need to reload the application.
I have googled this and all we seem to get are sites that say free download and scan, which he has clicked on and downloaded, then when you come to the repair stage you have to pay for the repair. All I can find out is that it is some sort of adobe file from Micro Corporation. I have looked on their web site and cannot find any help there.
We have re installed windows live but it has made no difference.
Do any of you computer buffs out there have any idea how we can fix this.
Lin

Download C Cleaner from File Hippo
http://www.filehippo.com/
When it is installed run the programme it will delete some history but not harm your computer. So make a note of passwords. Then run the next application which is a registry cleaner, it will give you options to follow use your common sense here it will show you problems with your computer just press fix all. Rolling Eyes
Then defrag your computer. Very Happy So make a note of passwords.
Hope this helps it did for me. I had the same problem with a Video programme a couple of yonks ago.

Check that they are genuine Facebook notifications - I use FB very little but have been getting lots of "notifications" lately.

I do not use the preview pane as I don't want things opened for me before I do it myself - so I right click the email and choose <Properties> <Details> <message source> so I can see the contents of the message in text format first. If you then look at the "return path" it is often back to somewhere that certainly isn't FB.

I would be wary that you maybe being being asked to download and open something other than a FB message.

Thankyou Murano, I talked Rich through from the link. He downloaded the file to his desktop, we then opened up my computer went into windows files found the system32 folder and copied the file there. We then restarted the computer and when it had reloaded clicked on windows live mail. Rich then clicked on the mail from Facebook , and the message about the dll file no longer comes up. Rich is well chuffed as neither of us is that computer literate.
