Colour or monochrome?

My reversing camera has become a little temperamental. It's had some occasions when it ceased to function, some when it seems like a TV with a serious vertical-hold problem. However, it seems OK again right now.

It's always showed a monochrome picture in the time I've had the van (almost two years). My query concerns the oddity that at times recently the image gives a hint of colour and I can detect, say, the colour of a vehicle behind me.

Daft question I daresay, but does this mean that it is in fact a colour camera, and there's some duff wiring connectivity somewhere?

do you know what model or brand camera system you have ?

is the hint of colour the correct colour ?

I've had mono and colour systems and I find the colour ones much more temperamental and actually quite confusing at times as it's often difficult to get the right balance of brightness contrast and colour to actually see clearly.

Perhaps the previous owner (if there was one) had the same problem and turned the colour right down? Is there a colour saturation adjustment?
