At the moment I have a Poloroid a700 camera, this has a confusing amount of settings that I dont use or maybe even understand. Embarassed

I need a camera that I can just point and click virtually, that is self ajusting to the light etc and does not need a degree in understanding settings.
I used to have a fully auto camera that used a manual viewfinder setting of 2 triangles that would merge for distance. that was a Poloroid as well, they called it a Land camera big old thing weighed a ton.
can anyone tell me which model would suit me without spending too much of the kids inheritance. Laughing Laughing

Hi Cabby
It really depends on what you want to achieve quality wise. Most modern cameras have automatic settings. I have a Fujifilm and Samsung models both giving very good quality. The criteria is to balance the number of pixels to file size.
If I was looking for a new compact today I would go for one with a view finder because the LCD screens are sometimes difficult to see in bright sunshine!!!
Hope that helps

For me a Nikon Coolpix does the trick.

Under £100
Nikon lens
12 MP
3.6 optical
All automatic but with loads of other settings
AA Batteries

Now - how long is that piece of string you're holding?

You will get pretty good results from most modern compacts using the fully auto setting these days. Personally I would go for something that fits your budget from the Panasonic Lumix range. They all are easy to use and use good quality lenses made by Leica.

I'm another fan of Panasonic Lumix. Lovely photos and just fabulous HD video - also far cheaper than they were just a few months ago.

I have a Panasonic TZ6 which I have found to be great, it didn't break the bank as far as camera prices go.

I've had it a couple of years now and it has been faultless.

My photo on this thread http://www.motorhomefacts.com/ftoptitle-113344-lac-du-der-chantecoq.html was taken with it. Automode, no messing, just pointed and clicked.

My father in law has a TZ10 now, and my brother in law has one above that, TZ12 I think.

All happy guys with ours. My friend at work has the TZ4 and is very happy with his too.

Ben

Another vote for Panasonic Lumix range, I have the TZ10, has an iA mode which really is point and shoot, will let you move to more manual modes as your skill improves, also has built in GPS so you can see where you took your shots. Just been replaced by TZ20, but still available at a bargain price on Amazon.

Me too Very Happy

I received a Panasonic Lumix FS30 last Christmas and I've been very happy with it. I think the picture quality is pretty good.

It's easy to use and with a 4gb SD memory card and the battery which lasts a long time before needing a recharge I can snap away for days. I have taken about 1500 photographs this year.

In the past I have used an SLR camera but the Lumix is so compact and easy to carry I can take anywhere.

Took my avatar pic using the Lumix.

Just to confuse you.
I have had a Cannon Digital IXUS 700 for a few years now. The more recent version is way past 700. Check it out.
It is a smashing little camera with good sized screen, auto and manual modes as well as video.
